Twas a misty moisty morning... and cloudy was the weather...
The weather ranged from mist to rain but we braved it and ended up having a wonderful time. The trail at Springfield bog is grassy in areas and straight mud in others so at times it actually felt like we had weights on our boots we had so much mud on them.
Springfield bog was a farm that has been planted like a prairie. It is expected to be fully grown by 2020. We saw lots of plants and seed pods. Most I didn't recognize. Here are a few.
Looks like milkweed but isn't. Probably in the same family though.
I don't know what this is but I liked it because it reminded me of little Dr. Suess houses.
This is dock or dockweed. genus Rumex.
And this one I'm not sure of.
We also stumbled upon some cow bones left over from farming days.
There were lots of deer trails but they were hard to get a picture of
This is the actual bog. I couldn't get very close so this was the best picture I could get. It's not real clear
The mist collected in Annie's hair and made it look like it was covered in little pearls. I wish the picture would have turned out. All in all a perfect day.
